Writing a link blog

Writing a link blog is not a new concept. I think of Tumblr when I think of link blogs. But sharing links on social media could also be a form of link blogging. Even Pinterest.

Unlike using those platforms, a link blog is different because you are maintaining your own copy of what you find interesting. You are not relying on someone else to keep track of the fact you liked something and also host whatever it is you liked.

The stakes are not high. But putting something on a public website means more people will find what you write. You never know who will find your random snippet useful.

While it might seem like a link blog is only slightly more effort than bookmarking a page, a link blog allows you to add your commentary to something. Interesting links pop up but you may not have enough to write an entire article on it. Still adding a few sentences of your thoughts and publishing it right away might be better than letting the link sit around in the ever growing draft pile.
